Problem: You Try to Remember a Word While Listening

 

Bottom Up Listeners‘ get stuck thinking about the meaning of ONE word.

While you are thinking, you are not listening or hearing the next 10-20 words in the audio or conversation…

This activity to develop your skills to catch the meaning of something and develop your skill of ‘guessing’ even if you don’t hear or know every word.

Note: If you know a word, you will be able to hear it and understand what it means instantly without having to think about the meaning. Trust your brain and your ears. 

 

For Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate Students

Listen to this Audio: 

  • Try to stay focused on the words you can hear instantly.
  • If you have to stop and think about a word – DON’T DO IT.
  • The goal is to keep focused on the audio that you are hearing as you are hearing it
