Speaking with More Fluency and Understanding Real English Better
Smith's Experience with Us
My name is Smith and I am from Haiti. I am really happy to have signed up for Real English Conversations because it has really helped me improve my listening and speaking skills.
And thanks to the teacher, Amy Whitney, who also acts as a researcher on how to learn a foreign language more efficiently. So, thanks to her good advice and methodology about how to deeply work out my listening and how to stick with my speaking practice, even without having someone to talk to, I have been able to gradually improve my English in many ways.
In relation to that, she also recently created a speaking practice group on the WhatsApp platform where lots of students freely interact with her and each other every day. Discussing a bunch of different topics about everyday life, culture, sports, science education and so on. So, it’s really a lot of fun learning English with Real English Conversations.

Meet Ashmed. He’s a university student that used REC to improve his speaking and learned to understand ‘everyday’ English once he arrived to the United States.
My name is Ashmed. I am from Egypt. I am currently doing my Ph.D in Infectious diseases at The University of Georgia, USA. When I first came to US, I had a hard time speaking and understanding what people are saying. The English that we have learned at school back in my country is completely different from the American spoken English. Even though I took an intensive English course and bought many books, it did not seem to help me speak naturally to native Americans because they just focused on the academic and formal English. Recently, I signed up for the Real English Conversation and I feel much more comfortable while speaking with native Americans. Real English Conversation exposes me to American expressions, phrasal verbs, how to tell story and even to the American culture. Moreover, it uses the simplest way to study and practice new words and expressions by offering many examples. Now, I am able to express my thought, tell stories, use idioms and understand American way of speaking English much better. Thanks for the Real English Conversation for their smart way of teaching English and I am expecting more of them.Ashmed H.
Hello my name is Airat and I’m from Russia. I’m a scientist. A few months ago, I got a new job and a new post involves a lot of business trips to the United States. At that time my English was terrible. I had to quickly catch up to speak fluent English. I spent a lot of time learning from textbooks but they have turned out to be useless to reach fluency. Then I came across Amy and Curtis’s site. Through their technique in two months I’ve improved my English from beginner to upper-intermediate level. I tried different courses but this site is my favorite. Over the time I’ve come up with my own way of learning which suits me best and that way based on techniques I learned from Amy and Curtis. A further advantage of this site is a very low subscription cost compared to other courses. Thank you guys for your work. I look forward to see new materials. Keep it up!Airat
This is Airat. He needed to improve his English for business trips to the United States. He quickly improved his English level with REC.

Alexey helps teach ‘Native English’ in his home with REC to teach his children about phrasal verbs
I wanted to tell you that my elder 6 year old son and I find your phrasal verbs podcasts very useful! We particularly appreciate it that each podcast gives sample sentences with both the phrasal verb in question and the alternative wording. It appears to me that this makes it easier for the brain to retain the uses of a new phrasal verb, as the new phrasal verb gets linked in the brain not only to the context and the definition but also to the alternative way to get across the same meaning of the whole sentence. Besides, the podcasts provide me and my son with excellent talking points for our English language developing conversations. Basically, I try to make sure that my son makes out everything in a given podcast by us both talking it over what we hear and, maybe, coming up with our own sample sentences.
My wife and I are raising our 2 kids bilingual, yet English is not the first language for either of us. We lived in the US for 8 years, and now we live in Russia. While speaking 100% English with my both kids since their birth, I always try to make sure that our kids pick up natural expressions and wordings. This becomes a challenge particularly now, as now we no longer live in an English speaking country. To this end, I am always on a look-out for new sources of good vocabulary that would match the going level of my son’s English language. Now it is the time for my son to get introduced to more phrasal verbs … and here you go! I found your great phrasal verbs podcasts! Of course, the podcasts help myself brush up on phrasal verbs too. 🙂Alexy M.
I am Sarah. I am a college graduate from Cebu, Philippines. I understand the English language but every time I use it in a conversation I always get lost of words. I moved to the United States this year. I had a hard time speaking and understanding the people here. It felt like the English I learned in China was very different than how native speakers talk in the USA where they focus on writing, reading and grammar rules more than listening and speaking. This course helped me feel comfortable talking with native speakers finally.Zoe C. - from China
I studied English for more than 5 years and had problems with speaking. When I did the activities in the Conversational English Course I felt like I could speak better after only a few weeks. The activities are making you practice speaking in a way where you learn to say ideas better and use new words.Nam Ha
